I can't have a drink without ice!
Ok, so I like ice in my cold drinks - lots of it. In Chile, the drinks are kind of cold but no ice is served - regardless of whether it's water, soda, juice . . . it's making me 'un poquita loca' (a little bit crazy). I think the 'no ice' thing is what contributed to my dehydration. A few days ago, we took Grandma Gina to a shopping center to get some air. I bought a soda from the food court and guess what, no ice. I started saying something about it to Rod and he said they don't put ice in the drinks here and if I asked for it, I might get just one cube. So, wanting to be a polite American, I've been sucking it up. Waaah, waaah, waaah - ok, all done and no, I don't want any cheese with my 'whine!'

hmmmm... do you think it's the ice that got you sick? you know how you're not supposed to drink the local water?? I never thought about it but when I visited my Grandpa in PI I had a halo halo (a popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, and served cold in a tall glass or bowl) and got totally sick. we came to the conclusion that it was the ice in the halo halo :( that got me sick.
ReplyDeleteCould be - I haven't had too much ice though, but there's hardly anything different that Rod has had from me - we've eaten the same food except for couple of drinks. I did have 2 margaritas at La Sal, other than that, I had a few ice cubes at Grandma's house in my water, but nothing else.
