On our way to lunch

We stopped to meet Dad's best friend, Jaime, and his family in front of La Catedral. We took a quick look around inside and it's really incredible. Tia Luci said this was the most important church in the country (for Catholics, Uri).

The church is filled with tombs of various people of importance including one of Chile's founding fathers. The decor is ornate and highly detailed. There were many people there in the afternoon - my assumption of the folks quietly sitting in the pews were that they were there to pray or centering themselves. As I walked towards a pew and saw a guy with his head bowed but as I got closer, saw he was texting on his Blackberry! Is this the latest technological advancement for prayer? Maybe he was sending a text or an email to God?

We left the church and headed towards the fishmarket for lunch. The portions were huge and the food was very fresh. After being sick for the last couple of days though, I had a difficult time with so much food but tried to eat as much as I could. The meal was enjoyable as we were treated to a trio of wandering musicians, cantando las canciones de espanol (singing spanish songs).
