Una fiesta grande para el cumpleaños de papa

Dad´s cousin, Guillermo Veliz, threw a big birthday bash for Dad last night. The food was great and there was a ton of family there. Initially, it was planned to be a small get-together but turned out to be a huge bash as one family member after another just happened to be in Santiago last night so they stopped by to visit Grandma Gina; so they all tagged along with us to the party.
Dad's cousin, Luli, had not seen Dad since he was 18! We got to meet her and her husband and her two brothers showed up, Carlito and Raul; along with their wives. Tio Mario also came by to join us for the party. Three of Grandma Gina's siblings were there: Tio Carlo, Tio Hugo and Tia Chela.

We arrived at Tio Guillermo's house at 10:30 pm (yup, parties start late here). Tio Guillermo's family includes his wife - Tia Guillermina, his daughter - Barbara and her husband - Oscar, and their daughter, Carla.

Once again we connected via Skype
with Susie and the kids so they could meet the family. Tio Hugo asked Rod who the mother of Micah, Tyler and Kayla was (he assumed I was Rod's second wife because he said I look so young). What a crack up!!

We stayed a little bit longer with Tio Hugo to chat some more with Tio Guillermo, Barbara and Oscar. The back yard of the house was a cozy little area with a built-in brick barbecue where we sat under a trellis covered in grape vines. We tasted the grapes right off the vine, they were sweet already but we were told in a couple of weeks, they'd be perfect.

Barbara and Tio danced a little salsa before Dad got a call that Grandma Gina was not feeling well so we rushed home to help.
